Lane Cake (aka Alabama Lane Cake) - This cake was first published in 1898 by Emma Rylander lane of Clayton, Alabama and is still considered a traditional celebration cake in the South. The cake is a simple, light white cake perfect for any time of year.
For the AUTHENTIC style we blanket each layer with the traditional Lane Cake filling of raisins and bourbon, and frosted the outside with a Marshmallow Buttercream. The MODERN style is a 'naked' cake (meaning no frosting), and added pecans and coconut to the filling.
Either way, the historical Lane Cake is a wonderful experience. For shipping purposes we've replaced the traditional 7-minute frosting with a Marshmallow Buttercream.
